Dustin brings over fifteen years of experience and expertise in regenerative medicine to Virscio, spearheading cell and gene therapy program development by applying innovative translational approaches to translational research. Dustin has extensive experience with IND-enabling, pre-clinical study designs across a broad array of disease and asset classes. At Virscio, Dustin is responsible for coordinating R&D activities with industry sponsor, philanthropic and government funded programs, new model development, and strategic platform engagement. Dustin also advances platform application as a business development lead for external client relations. Prior to joining Virscio, Dustin was an Assistant Professor at Rush University Medical Center where he co-developed dopamine neuron cell products for Parkinson’s disease, advancing programs toward IND with two companies. Dr. Wakeman received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California at San Diego.
